Reading Tai-Bo

Reading Tai-Bo

After enjoying the final installment of that contemporary Greek mythology series, I decided to go back and read all of the old ones. I read two this week. They are so so good. I came to the part where the daughter of Athena defeats the man-hating Circe with multi-vitamins and it was just so so funny. Lines like, “Curse Hermes and his multi-vitamins” are just so priceless. And this writer has the best chapter titles. I’m enjoying the books even more the second time around.

So what did I learn from my reading this week? That you can be hilarious and deep and relevant and use history all at the same time. In fact it is better than simply being one of these things. The hilarious parts make the sad and thoughtful parts even more profound. Good writing, good reading. I love it.
