The Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week
More pictures from our camping trip to Orcus Island. We were driving up to Mt. Constitution and The Hunky Hubby pulled into a little turnout on a whim. We looked at where there used to be a spring and then the boys spotted a thick carpeting of moss. So we tromped off the beaten path and found “Narnia” as Sweet Boy#2 dubbed the natural wonderland. Everything was coated in moss. We took off our shoes and walked around in it and you would actually sink down about an inch into the thick prickly stuff. The trees and the logs and the stumps and the ground and an ancient picnic table, everything had been devoured by the moss. The boys frolicked about shouting out things like “It’s Narnia! It’s Narnia! I see the White Stag! Is that Aslan? Follow the White Stag! It’s the lamp post, I see the lamp post!” We did see a stag and although it was a brown one (a black tailed deer) he was still a lovely sight walking through the moss with the afternoon light slanting down through the thick green branches above him. A wonderland indeed.
