This week I read Daughter of Light by Morgan Busse. It’s a sword and horse fantasy with angel-like and demon-like creatures who have given up their immortality to live among mankind. I had a little bit of trouble getting into the story as there were a few awkward sentences near the beginning and the drama felt a bit too high for how well I knew the characters. But the awkwardness faded quickly and I was soon zipping along deep into a story about a girl who has a frightening power she doesn’t understand. The main character is running for her life in a world that desperately needs her unique talents but just might destroy her out of fear. A great story with several intriguing story lines set in different medieval countries that are being rapidly pressed toward war. Add to that a nicely developed romance in the midst of it all and you have a good read all around.
