Messes and Mayhem
While I didn’t write any boy quotes down this week, I do have some craziness and minor catastrophes for you.
I was making soup and rolls over in the camp kitchen and the boys were running around the lodge waiting for some folks to arrive for an impromptu family camp. Many things occurred while I was distracted in the kitchen. The ones that I know about are:
- Sweet Boy#3 placed the iron fireplace poker in the flames of the fire until it was white hot like a branding iron. Both he and Sweet Boy#2 were startled that I was so upset that they would do this, again. Yes, it has happened before. They seemed to think that the risk of an accidental branding occurring was very slight.
- Sweet Boy#2 and Sweet Boy#3 dump powdered sugar into their mouths. Although, they proudly informed me that they did not put the sugar shaker on their lips and so there was no need for me to worry about washing the container.
- Both Sweet Boy#2 and Sweet Boy#3 break their glasses while wrestling. One frame cracked open so that the lens fell out and on the other pair, an arm was wrenched completely off. The eye glass people know me by name already. After this, I wouldn’t be surprised if our family went onto some kind of terrible list for career eye glass criminals.
On the plus side, the rolls and soup were good and it was fun to play games and eat a meal with former and current camp staff.
