Since May 2nd, I have been doing a huge revision of LMR, a YA manuscript set in Cancun Mexico. I have done huge revisions before. Jenn, my critique partner and I went over every single sentence of my first Nineveh manuscript in the course of a year and a half. But I have never embarked upon such a brutal revision before. It was literally a re vision. Realizing that the old vision for the story did not work, I had to change things that I thought had been set in stone, like the story resolution at the end, the villain, one of the love stories. . . you get the idea.  I finally finish that big picture revision this week. This was my tenth revision of this particular story, but the first one since I set the story aside five years ago. I cut 12,000 words out of the story and it is 10,000 words smaller. I added a few things here and there. Now I need to go back through it and make sure that I keep everything consistent in the changes I have made. But first I think I’ll plot out a brand new story, to keep some variety in my writing schedule. So LMR needs more work, but this story might be salvageable after all!
