Aaaargh! I am officially the slowest unpublished writer in the western hemisphere! I suppose I’m not slower than those who haven’t actually started their manuscripts yet, but that is little comfort as I stare at my goals list and weep. But such is life. Well I started work on Exercise #5 from the “Writing the Breakout Novel Workbook” which is “Heightening Larger Than Life Character Qualities” and I still haven’t finished. Yes indeed, not only did the author ask us to give our characters some larger than life character qualities, but now he asks that you heighten that characters actions in 24 different places in your novel. So I suppose that I have technically finished exercise #5 since I have heightened at least 24 moments, but I’m afraid that instead of picking the best 24 I simply wigged out and started heightening one moment per chapter and I was only on chapter 28 when my computer froze up and then displayed “the blue screen of death”. I did some computer geeky things to it and it is now working but my skills are rudimentary and I fear that the poor thing won’t last much longer. So I had to write out my last few paragraphs by hand to add to my prose later when the computer wasn’t acting up. I hate writing things twice and this will be the third time I’ve heightened chapter 28 due to the computer uprising. But life goes on and some writing is getting done so “Ha Ha” world, despite it all I am still typing! Grumble, grumble, grumble, grumble…
