This week I revised from my “Revision Ideas” folder. I organized my ideas into four categories.
- Revisions that mainly concern Jackson
- Revisions that mainly concern Adrian
- Revisions that mainly concern Kaden
- General revisions
Then I read the Jackson revision ideas before starting every day. I read every chapter where Jackson was the Point of View character, making the necessary improvements all the way through the manuscript. I completed the Jackson revision and started in on my Adrian revision. I also polished and smoothed whenever I found some new lurchy text that I could smooth out. I rewrote things to make them more active and in general tried to keep my critique partner’s voice in my head. “That is passive, Kristen. Oh no! Don’t sum that up, use dialogue.” That sort of thing. Jenn is even helpful when she hasn’t actually seen a chapter, because often I know how she would react. Thank you, Jenn! I am about halfway done with the Adrian edit. The goal is to finish in time to submit by April Fool’s day…just because.
