Writing News
This week I actually got quite a bit of writing related work done at CamasCon. The boys love to play board games but get a little…rowdy at times. Thus I sit over at camp and wait in case I must intervene. I read some good books. I spent two hours critiquing a manuscript for a writer friend and got it sent off to her. I spent at least two hours going through the first eleven chapters of Writing The Breakout Novel Workbook by Donald Maass and writing notes for revising my Christmas novella after reading each chapter. Then the hard work began. This week I looked at my notes from the writing book and made the necessary changes to my manuscript. I deepened the characterization and heightened my heroine’s story arc. I made the dog wimpier and the hero manlier. I heightened their first kiss (the hero and herine not the dog and the hero) and the confrontation with my villainess. I used my notes from ten chapters of the writing book and my story is better for it. I still have a lot of polishing to do before I submit, but I’m pleased with where this story is going. Hope my editor likes it!
