The Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week
There was a moment this week as I was cooking dinner in the kitchen, when sweet boy #1 ran in to inform me that both of his brothers were in the bathroom filling up cups of water carefully before dumping their contents all over the bathroom counter, over and over again. That was interesting.
And I caught sweet boy #2 slipping his broccoli onto sweet boy #1s plate during the prayer. But nonetheless, the winner this week…Dum dum dum dum.
I was having one of those days. Those day’s when you lose track of how many times you burst into tears and rush into the bathroom to light your hair on fire and scream challenges toward the heavens. Of course my children did not notice for the most part. They were too busy whining and striving against doing math. But at lunch time sweet boy #1 became more observant.
Sweet boy #1-“Can you read Astronomy Momma?”
Me-“Not yet.”
Sweet boy #1-“Why?”
Me-“I want to eat my lunch.”
Sweet boy #1-“Why?”
Me-“I’m hungry.”
Sweet boy #1 (with a genuinely confused look on his face)-“Why?”
Me-Burst into tears while attempting to choke out some brilliant answer.
Sweet boy#1-“Why are you…fussing?”
Me-Run from the room and fling myself onto the couch to “fuss” in private. Leaving all the explanations to the hunky hubby.
Ahhh the humiliation. And did we read Astronomy? Yes, but after I ate that illusive lunch! Aaaaaahhhhh!
