Reading Tai-Bo

What did I learn this week from my reading? That undead pirates are always and will always be uber sexy. No matter that they smell, engage in illegal activities, and occasionally feed people to the sharks. How strange? This came from a short story collection about supernatural weddings. An undead pirate captain saves a mousy normal woman from a romance novel cover model who married her and pushed her overboard hoping to inherit her non-existent fortune. Ahhh, true love.

I also realized that one of the things that I really like about a book is readability. I like books that zoom along, almost of their own accord. They are fast paced, exciting, and fun. Twilight, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy, Holes, The Princess Bride, Artemis Fowl… Hmmmm, I wonder If I can learn to do the same thing with my writing? It’s a goal at least. To zoom the reader away into a world that is smart, funny, and traveling quickly. Well I guess we’ll see huh.
