Reading Tai-Bo
This week I raced through the final book in a series I have been reading over the past few years. YA for girls featuring pants. Well written, painfully honest, completely written from the characters perspective, no author intrusion or teaching, you experience life as the character does and learn slowly as the character does. This type of writing is so hard to do and so honest and easily digested for teens, but it can be painful to read.
You have characters making foolish sexual choices and you as the reader are just screaming at them to be smart and think and… But the characters learn as they go, like real people, and I think the books are better for it. Perhaps this is only painful because I am a mom and wish I could spare these characters the heartache they are creating for themselves. Hard to say. But a good read nonetheless.
