Reading Tai-Bo

Reading Tai-Bo

This week I finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I’m not sure that this book is really YA. The protagonist is a teen, in fact most of the secondary characters are teens. But I think this book is really written for 40-year-old-geeks who loved video gaming and watching cheesy movies in the 80’s. I bought this book as an anniversary gift for the Hunky Hubby… This is a secular novel and there are a few guy…moments. So be warned. And of course not everyone is who they say they are online, so there are a few surprises there. But all in all I enjoyed this book. Who wouldn’t love the tale of an impoverished teen who solves an elaborate video game and saves the world from slavering corporate vultures. He even gets to drive a giant robot. All of the info about 80’s movies and games can get a bit overwhelming but soon the hunt for the Easter Egg really gets rolling and the evil villain sneaks into the real world to cheat and I was hooked.
