Reading Tai-Bo
This week I read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. This book is a New York Times best seller YA novel and I can see why. It is very well written, with an interesting plot and a suprisingly fast pace despite its literary feel. Although it is darker than what I prefer (warning there is a necromancer and a bit of foul language), I enjoyed the book. The author has an amazing talent for putting words together and this book along with the InkHeart trilogy dances nicely between being literary and mainstream, making it a wonderfully written book that is actually fun to read.
Here is the first sentence for your enjoyment: “I spent the last afternoon of Before constructing a 1/10,000-scale replica of the Empire State Building from boxes of adult diapers.”
