11th Anniversary

Daryl and I got Married in August in the year 2000. Despite the warnings of our friends who urged us not even to plan our wedding because the world was going to end that spring or fall…for sure. I laugh when I imagine what 22-year-old Kristen would have thought if she had gotten a snap shot of our life as it is now, when she was curling her hair in the basement of the church and trying not to get aronia berry juice on her satin gown before the wedding. I think I would have been amazed, but pleased. Ok, I would have been horrified to find out how chubby I’d gotten, but besides that I would have been pleased. Amazed to know that yes, we did make our marriage work and hang onto love. And to see those three crazy gorgeous little boys. I can see my skinny starry-eyed self staring and staring at them in awe. So many blessings in such a short amount of time. Thank you Daryl for eleven wonderful years, for our sons and for our love, and yes…even for making me watch that show with the zombies in it. No, I’m never watching it with you again. But I love you so much, being with you has only made me a better person. Less hung up on rules, more capable of love, and I thank you for that. I love you.
