Reading Tai-Bo
Yey! I actually finished a book this week, two in fact. On my Nook, I finished Rick Riordan’s new Egyptian book The Throne of Fire and I finished listening to the audio book InkSpell by Cornelia Funke, read by Brendan Frasier. So, what did I learn from my reading this week? Well, besides the obvious fact that Cornelia Funke can make a simple fairytale feel like a psalm in your mouth, of course having Brendan Frasier reading it sure didn’t do the story any harm either…I learned that I like turn arounds and twists. Like when a villain saves the hero’s lives, or someone you expect to die is actually the one left bereaved, or when a character sets out to slay and evil prince and ends up accidentally making him immortal, or when the assistance a character is desperately waiting for turns out to be the speedo-clad Egyptian god of dwarfs (ug) driving a limo and eating a chocolate shaped like Lenin’s head…anyway. Lots of twists in both books and they make you keep turning pages, heart in your throat if you truly care for the characters experiencing them. Gotta love those twists…even though they may cause the unwary to throw the book against the wall and cry out in horror. But such is the danger in reading.
