Reading Tai-Bo

This week I want you to flip to the front of the book you’re currently reading. Find the first action committed by the main character. If the author has done her job, this action should be something that defines the character for you, the reader. Something that explains a little bit about what makes her tick. What she is normally like and what she would like to become. Here are a few first actions for your enjoyment.

“Ender nodded. It was a lie, of course, that it wouldn’t hurt a bit. But since adults always said it when it was going to hurt, he could count on that statement as an accurate prediction of the future. Sometimes lies were more dependable than the truth.”

He paused to gaze upwards at the cloudless blue sky and tripped over the enormous sandals. Hazelnuts scattered out upon the grass from the rush basket he was carrying. Unable to stop, he went tumbling cowl over tail.”
