The Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week
A Sunday adventure hike before the big snow came in this week. It is a five mile hike around the meadow, the boys wanted to give it a try as its been awhile. The boys got to use the new walking sticks they bought in Yellowstone. Yes, the ones with the pointy metal spike on the end, of course!
We stop at the pond to see how thick the ice has gotten. Not quite thick enough…but it’s getting there.
Sweet Boy#3 found a very nice piece to examine.
A boy and his dog…Leia is looking for The Hunky Hubby without much success.
Away from the pond and off down an old logging road toward Lilly’s.
A short stop at the hill where my great aunt Lilly’s house and barn used to stand. We ate a snack, got a drink, and the boys rolled down the hill and then defended themselves from Leia’s concerned licks and snuffles.
Taking in the views.
Sweet Boy#2 looking out over the meadow.
There were some great icy puddles to investigate on the old dirt road that winds around the meadow on the back side.
Only one mile to go! We are in the home stretch.
Although it was almost dark when we finally arrived, we made it. What a beautiful and chilly hike in God’s glorious creation.
