The Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week
Sweet Boy#1–The boys have been enjoying the chickens down at the cousins house all summer. They pet the chickens and wash the chickens and go prowling through the roost boxes looking for eggs. Well, I picked up a pair of Sweet Boy#1’s shorts that had been tossed upon the floor. There was a large alarming stain and collection of oozing moisture on the side pocket. Further investigation revealed eggshells inside the pocket. Apparently, he was lucky enough to find one of the treasured eggs, put it in his pocket for safekeeping, and then discover that pockets really are not ideal locations for raw eggs.
But the winner this week…
I received a gift upon my desk this week. A large black lump that was fragrant and slightly malleable. At first I was confused concerning the identification of this prize. Obviously it had been placed there by a little boy. But what was it? Upon closer inspection, I was reminded of our trip to Slide Waters and the boys fascination with the sun-heated asphalt in the parking lot. They had collected globules of the hot sticky stuff until we dragged them away and into the actual water park. One of the boys had managed to save his asphalt blob, sneak it home, and give me surprise gift. Gotta love little boys!
