Reading Tai-bo

This week I read The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. And what did I learn. That so much can be gained by really knowing the age of your characters. These kids are twelve in the first book and they are so very twelve it is wonderful. They are awkward and dramatic and impulsive and serious and are scared to admit that their best friend of the opposite gender just might be getting super cute all of a sudden. Oh the glories of Jr. High. The author did so well, they were a pure pleasure to read, and hilarious as well.
