Reading Tai-Bo
This week I officially read my first library book on my Nook!!! Ah the joy of it, my world has opened up and a bran new horizon greets the dawn. I usually wait for weeks to get library books in the mail, and I read a lot of them. I only purchase books I already like and so how can I tell if I will like something other than by getting it from the library? Many of the books are for research. Teen books that I may not want to buy, I’m just studying the market. Or cheesy romances that I just want to relax with and not own.
Well, this week I read The Blueberry Muffin Murder by Joanne Fluke and I am a genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to be Your Class President by Josh Lieb. The muffin one was a cozy mystery and while I was often finding awkward phrasing and silly things, I loved the book. A relaxing read with lots of yummy recipes and I will be borrowing more of her books, in fact I already have. And the evil genius book was extremely well written and funny by an author with a lot of talent. The one problem…the character didn’t have heart. Artemis Fowl may be evil, but it has always been clear that he loved his parents and eventually we learn that he will do anything to save his beloved body guard Butler. This character hated everyone, especially his parents, for the entire book. But because the writing was so good I stuck with him to the end and was privy to just a glimpse of hope. I greatly enjoyed both books and the reading tasted even sweeter…because it was free!
It’s Frappuccino Thursday.
