Breaking News
I have finally proven what I have suspected all along. Sweet Boy #1 is in Online Kindergarten. A teacher friend I know says their kindergarten lasts from 8:15 to 11:30 with a nice recess in there somewhere. We will often go from 9:00 to 1:00 with one 15 min. break. Why why why does it take so long.
The hunky hubby and I have both taken collage distance courses and it is universally acknowledged among students that it is a heck of a lot more work to take the distance course than to do the class with an on-site Professor. Why? Because they think there is a strong possibility that you are stupid. And so the work is piled upon you just in case. It appears to be the same for on-line kindergarten. I just finally found the time requirements for kindergarten on our course website. Two hours! My son only needs to be in school for two hours! But we get our lessons for the day with the approximate time required to complete them: Math 60 min, Phonics 60 min, Language Arts 60 min, and twice a week Science 45 min. Now math is not my best subject but even to me this doesn’t add up.
But then again I am only the poor, haggard mother, chasing her wild brood about the house as they dump the sugar canister on the floor yet again, with only my 5 little years of college, and my teeny little brain. Who am I to notice that the bright superior minds in our educational system have snuck over an hour of extra course work into my small son’s day and told me that it was mandatory. Who indeed.
So now that I am aware, what fierce rebellion brews within this mother’s heart? The next time my exhausted little boy says “But I know this.” I shall look at the work, think: “Does he know this? Is this repetition completely necessary? And if not. WE SHALL SKIP IT!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA AH HA!
So there mad monarchs of Kindergarten education. Take that!
