The Floating Lobster Days of Summer
Yes, Scruffy was busy working this summer. But the boys and I got to go camping anyway when our good friends invited us along on their adventure to Black Pine Lake.
The location was incredibly lovely and we were rewarded for braving the summer forestfire smoke when an unexpected rain pulled the haze from the air and gave us several days of blue skies.
Warmish water complete with “man-eating” weeds,
board games with good friends,
trees to climb,
and fish to attempt to catch, meant a fabulous time together … even though I forgot our cook stove.
What are good friends for but to rescue you when you harken into the forest without a way to heat your food?
We hiked around the lake
Hunted frogs in the swampy muck
and lazed about in the beautiful mountain waters.
Good times with good friends and the chance to push your mother off the dock and ruin her shoes! A perfect end to the long days of summer. Thank you McMillan’s for the invite, the fishing gear, the epic game of tag, and for making sure that we weren’t eating raw spaghetti for three days!
