Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week

The Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week

I left all three of my boys overnight for the very first time. Sure I left sweet boy #1 for one night with the hunky hubby when he was a year old. But I’ve never left all three of them and I’ve never left any of them for 2 whole nights! It was difficult, but worth it. My lovely sister and I had some good times, were able to relax, not rush madly about shoving food into mouths that were pressed tightly closed in determined refusal, and not once did the words “Don’t you dare throw that into the potty…” escape either of our mouths.  But I still missed them terribly. Motherhood is so funny.

Upon my return it was amusing to see their different reactions to my absence. Sweet boy #3 was greatly relieved that I was finally home and the hunky hubby said that he finally looked at peace with the world and everything in it. Sweet boy #2 gave me a big hug and whispered in my ear that he had been wanting me when he woke up in the middle of the night. But when I queried sweet boy #1 he stated that:

1) Daddy had made his favorite meal ever.

2) He had not missed me.

3) He wanted Daddy Day to go on for an entire year.

4) When he was grown up he was going to make his kids have a Daddy Day for an entire year.

5) When he was a daddy he would have 3 little boys and 5 little girls!

More power to him!

Well those are my three sons in a nutshell. Now I don’t ever have to describe their personalities to anyone ever again. I can just point people to this post. Thank God for little boys. My little boys in particular.

I promise you a crazed animal, a concussion, and a kiss in every single book...you're welcome!

Hmmmm, 5 little girls will keep him bald and baffled I’m sure, but probably his arms will be full of little hugs and his ears will be full of “I love you” from his tribe. Perhaps their uncles will be helpful on “Daddy Days” and it can be an extended family adventure to include lots of help.

    Love to you.
