The Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week
Ahhh, the hazards of tent camping with rowdy young hellions. What is a hellion anyway? Anywho, My lovely sister and I pitched our tents in the back yard and camped for two glorious nights. And I learned something very valuable, as long as I am willing to read to them, they are willing to be irreparably wiggly and awake. I read 5 chapters of Hank the CowDog, hoping to lull them into a peaceful slumber…ha ha ha. Only pitch black darkness and evil grumpy growly holding-them-flat-onto-their-sleepingbags-Momma can accomplish that. So sad…and plus I had to face the terrible realization that they somehow in all of their bouncing snapped the center pole of our 10 person tent. Have you ever looked online for a replacement 18ft. tent pole…I thought not. But despite the hazards, our camping trip was a truly memorable experience, ie contained very little slumber.
Hmmmm….Sounds like a wonderful experience to read about and enjoy thoroughly, from a distance. Definitely a memory making experience that you and the boys will fondly recall in the years to come. They will look back on this and when they try it with their little ones, they will be in awe and wonder of you, their amazing Mom!
