The Harrowing/Heartwarming Parent Moment of the Week
I’m going to ignore the cupcake typhoon that occurred while I was on the phone and go with heartwarming this week.
I went in to wake up Sweet Boy #1 and his little brothers followed along. I leaned over and kissed my eldest on the cheek saying “Wake up Sweetheart.” Then Sweet Boy #2 crawls up onto the bed, kisses his big brother’s cheek, and says “Wake up.” Then Sweet Boy #3 crawls up on the bed and kisses his big brother’s cheek and says “Wake up”. They weren’t being sarcastic either, they were just being naturally adorable. I guess the sarcasm will come later, after the ages of 4 and 2. Of course the big question, did he wake up? No. I still had to drag him out of the covers. Ah well, cute but ineffective.
The boys were playing “Mario” with Jacob and the Hunky Hubby and not only do they shout out: “Pizza Mario” whenever the Mario said “Itsa Mari0” but there was a terrible battle over who would get the little clear covers on their wii controllers. Poor Sweet Boy #2 was the one without a cover, but then the hunky hubby looked over and realized that he had found his own solution. The little guy had gone and found a little sock from the laundry and slid it over his controller, after that he played alongside the others, happy as a clam with his homemade cover.
Sweet Boy #2 made a pink crown in cubbies and brought it home to give to me. He approached me, crown in hand and said: “You need some rest Momma. I make this. This is one of your jammies.” He wanted to put the pink crown in my jammie drawer but due to rumpling I finally got him to hang it on a bed post. What a wise wise child, seeing that not only did Momma need rest, but that she needed a pink jammie crown to wear to make that rest complete. So did I get rest? Ha ha ha. But the saying actually is true. It is the thought that counts.
