20 Random Things
A writer friend Shelli Littleton tagged me and now I am supposed to tell the world 20 random things about myself. Here goes.
Update: This is not 20 things, but after I added the picture of Shamu, I couldn’t add anything else. WordPress must be angry with me or something. So…this is just going to have to do.
How tall are you?
I am 5’5″.
Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
I can kill anything that dares to grow in the garden that our downstairs neighbors left us when they moved out. I dig, boil, and eat Camas root with my boys in the spring like the Native Americans of our area have done for 100’s of years, it is not very filling but a fun project to do once a year. Glad I’m not depending on those little flower bulbs all winter for food though. I can handle mud, snakes, and frogs although I discourage it when my 3 boys bring these things into the house unannounced. And I can do the Vulcan salute.
What is your biggest blog-related pet peeve?
I’ll go with Shelli on this one and choose spam comments.
What is your favorite non-blog-related pet peeve?
Foam packing peanuts and foam mattresses. I hate to touch them and I hate that awful squeaky noise the packing peanuts make when three small children get a hold of them.
What is your favorite song?
Hmmm…honestly, I don’t know if I have one. I love “My deliverer is Coming” by Rich Mullins, anything by Petra, and Third Day. Hmmm…can’t really pick a favorite.
What is Your Favorite Etsy Shop?
The daughter of my son’s fourth grade teacher has an Etsy shop. Something about fairy mountain jewelry. Her name is Delaney Frazier. It is nice. But I’ve never bought anything from Etsy.
What is your favorite way to spend free time when you are alone?
I love to read read read and drink coffee and eat handcrafted bagels and read some more.
What’s your favorite junk food?
Pastries from the Danish bakery in downtown Leavenworth, WA and coffee!
Do you have any pets? What are they and what are their names?
We used to have a 155 pound Newfoundland dog named Shamu. He was such a wonderful dog, but he passed away this spring. Now my sons have pet chickens that they keep at their cousin’s house. We hope to get another Newfoundland in the spring. The romance that I finally sold has a rambunctious dog in it that I modeled after Shamu.
Kristen, this is awesome! I’ve been to Leavenworth, WA! We lived in Spokane for about three years in my 20s … took a sleigh ride there. It was honestly the coldest I’ve ever been! 🙂
And we are the same height! 🙂
And what a beautiful dog. We had a German Shepherd for 13 years. She weighed 110 pounds. She was wonderful. We miss her. I’m sorry for your loss … I know what how that hurts.
Thank you for this! It’s been great knowing more about you.
Thanks so much Shelli! I took my middle boy on a sleigh ride for our Momma day last year. Yes it does get cold. Your German Shepherd sounds wonderful. Dogs are such special animals, they really worm themselves into your lives. Shamu smelled bad and would lay right in the way and would walk over and just take one lick of your snack if you laid it down, just because…but I miss him so much. It was fun to get to know a little more about you and to see you on the ACFW loop as well as on Books and Such Blog. God Bless as you write and thanks for tagging me.
